    A 2.1 receiver is an audio component that processes and amplifies sound from a 2-channel audio source, such as a CD player or computer, and adds a subwoofer output for improved low- frequency sound reproduction. It is a more basic version of a home theater receiver and is mainly designed for stereo music rather than multichannel surround sound.
