    Turntables and digital sound sources differ primarily in their method of sound reproduction. Turntables are analog devices that physically spin a vinyl record with grooves that move a stylus, which then causes vibrations that an amplifier interprets as sound. On the other hand, digital sound sources like CDs,mp3 files, and streaming services use digitized data, which is a sequence of 1s and 0s, to represent sound waves. These data points are then interpolated back into sound waves through a digital-to-analog converter (DAC). The fundamental ways these two methods store and deliver sound differ, with turntables typically being praised for a warmer and more natural sound but with the downside of potential pops, crackles, and surface noise.
