When did blues turn into jazz?

    Blues and jazz have their own distinct histories and characteristics, and they didn’t exactly turn into one another. However, there are certainly connections and influences between the two genres.

    Jazz originated in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, combining African and European musical concepts. Ragtime, marching band music, and blues were all significant influences on early jazz. So, in a sense, blues elements were absorbed into and helped shaped the development of jazz during its formative years.

    The interchange between blues and jazz continued throughout the 20th century. For instance, the improvisational element of jazz was often incorporated into blues performances, particularly after the mid-20th century shift toward electric blues.
