The first jazz musician is hard to determine as jazz music was born out of a blend of cultures and music styles in New Orleans around the late 1800s and early 1900s. Some of the earliest musicians credited with the development of jazz include Buddy Bolden, Nick LaRocca, and Freddie Keppard. The first recorded jazz song was “Livery Stable Blues” by the Original Dixieland Jass Band in 1917.
