Electronic music has a long and complex history with many key figures and milestones. However, it’s generally agreed that the French musician and inventor Pierre Schaeffer is one of the earliest pioneers. In the late 1940s and early 1950s, he experimented with musique concrete, a form of music that uses recorded sounds as primary materials. Another significant early figure is the German composer Karlheinz Stockhausen, who began experimenting with electronic music in the 1950s and 1960s. He created some of the first completely electronic pieces of music, such as “Study I” and “Study II”.
