    1. cupped hand: Some singers use a cupped hand to hold the mic, placing their thumb on the bottom of the mic and the other fingers loosely curled around it. This method allows for a more intimate and expressive connection between the performer and the audience.

    2. pop filter alternative: Instead of using a pop filter, a singer might hold the mic closer to their mouth when singing lyrics with plosive sounds like “p,” “b,” and “t.” These sounds can cause distortion and popping sounds without a filter or when the mic is too far away. Holding the mic closer to the mouth acts as an alternative pop filter.
