Hudson River Music Festival Adds Celebration of Pete & Toshi Seeger Led by Tom Chapin and Featuring David Amram and The Chapin Sisters 

Hudson River Music Festival has expanded its musical lineup with A Celebration of Pete & Toshi Seeger, led by Grammy-winning folk legend Tom Chapin and featuring 94-year-old Seeger collaborator David Amram (Langston Hughes, Dizzy Gillespie) and The Chapin Sisters. The hour-long set, scheduled for Saturday, June 14, at 11 a.m., is the first in a packed day of live musical entertainment. 

“Any Hudson River Fest deserves to start with the songs of Pete and stories of The Seegers. Especially because, as Pete said: ‘a good song reminds us of what we’re fighting for,’” Tom Chapin commented, speaking to the Croton-on-Hudson event’s commemorative edge, aimed at honoring the legacy of Toshi and Pete Seeger. 

Following the newly added frame, which effectively kicks off the festivities, Steve Earle & Friends (12:30-1:15 p.m.) will assume the secondary slot, followed by Jorma Kaukonen with special guest John Hurlbut (1:35-2:20 p.m.), Preservation Hall Jazz Band (2:45-3:40 p.m.), Madison Cunningham (4:05-5:00 p.m.), and Lucius (acoustic) featuring Griffin and Taylor Goldsmith, all leading to Grahame Lesh & Friends, featuring Oteil Burbridge, Rick Mitarotonda, Rob Barraco, Jennifer Hartswick, and the Goldsmiths. 

The first-time event will rekindle the spirit of the Seegers’ 1960s-era gatherings. “Fueled by a shared love for the river, it’s a soulful celebration of nature, activism, and the next chapter in a beloved tradition,” according to the festival’s official website.
