Ian Astbury Talks The Cult’s Evolution On ‘Lipps Service’

Veteran rock vocalist and The Cult frontman Ian Astbury is the guest on the newest installment of the Lipps Service podcast, speaking with host Scott Lipps for nearly two hours about his stints with that band and its offshoots Southern Death Cult and Death Cult, his time in a revamped version of the Doors and the making of the Cult’s Rick Rubin-produced Electric.

Astbury also discusses the influence of Black Sabbath and his memories of the late Ozzy Osbourne, the 1970s British punk scene and opening for the Clash and the ins-and-outs of the music business. Further, he dishes on the emergence of AI technology, handling guest list requests in New York compared to Los Angeles, new Cult music and his thoughts on the upcoming Spinal Tap sequel.
