Jessie Parker is promoted from general manager to festival director of Laneway Festival, part of the TEG empire.

In her new role, announced Thursday, May 29th, Parker will lead the strategic and creative direction of Laneway Festival, overseeing all aspects of operations, partnerships, and audience development.

As festival director of Laneway, a much-loved festival that has gone to places no other Australian event has attempted, including a one-off date in Detroit, and legs in Singapore and Auckland, Parker becomes one of the highest-ranked female executives in Australia’s live music industry.

Parker joined Laneway Festival in 2011, and has steadily risen through the ranks, reads a statement, earning respect across the industry for her leadership, creativity, and “deep understanding of the festival’s unique identity.”

She played a critical role in Laneway’s latest and most successful festival run in its 20-year history, with 200,000 attendees show up for the 2025 run, which had sold-out shows in Auckland, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Perth, plus another 40,000 at sideshows.

This year’s bill featured Charli XCX, Clairo, BICEP, Beabadoobee, Olivia Dean, Remi Wolf, Skegss, and more.

“Jessie has been an integral part of the Laneway family for many years, consistently bringing her talent and dedication to the work behind the scenes. She knows this festival inside and out and is deeply committed to creating strong, collaborative teams,” comments Danny Rogers and Jerome Borazio, co-founders of Laneway Festival.

“Her drive to continually enhance and grow the event is truly inspiring — we couldn’t be more thrilled to see her take on this new role.”

Parker’s position is immediately effective. “I’m honoured to take on this role and deeply thankful to Danny and Jerome for their ongoing trust and support. From the very beginning, they’ve believed in me and allowed me the opportunity to grow and make a meaningful impact,” she comments. “Laneway has always represented incredible music, forward-thinking ideas, and a strong sense of community — I’m excited to help guide it into its next chapter.”

TEG bought into Laneway Festival in 2021, ahead of a relaunch in 2022, with Borazio and Rogers retaining a substantial ownership interest in the company and continuing to run operations as co-managing directors alongside TEG, the tech, venues and live entertainment giant.

Founded in 2005 as a Melbourne street party, St Jerome’s Laneway Festival has grown-up into an international touring beast that showcases the hottest artists before the rest of the world catches on.

Laneway alumni include Billie Eilish, Lorde, Haim, Tame Impala and Flume.

The festival brand will return in 2026.
