After five decades of performance, Journey have announced their farewell tour. The arena rock mainstays will celebrate their legacy and conclude an unforgettable run with the Final Frontier Tour; from Feb. 28 to July 2, the group will make 60 stops across North America in the first leg of an outing with no definite end date.

“As its founding member, I carry the Journey torch to this day, wherever I go,” guitarist Neal Schon said. “The sentiment and spirit of the band will always remain. While this marks a farewell to one powerful chapter of the Journey we’ve shared, I want everyone to know I’m not done. Music is still burning strong inside me, and there are new creative horizons ahead. This tour is both a thank-you and the beginning of what’s next.”

Journey will set off their Final Frontier Tour with a performance at Hershey, Pa.’s Giant Center, launching a nonstop race through some of the most notable stadiums in the U.S. and Canada. Key locations in the litany of dates include, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Montreal, Quebec City, Indianapolis, Milwaukee, Memphis, Tenn., New Orleans, Austin, Texas, Salt Lake City, Vancouver, Sacramento, Calif., Jacksonville, Fla., Atlantic City, N.J., Savannah, Ga., Buffalo, N.Y., Cincinnati and finally Laredo, Texas’ Sames Auto Arena. There are some notable omissions within the lot, such as New York and San Francisco, which are likely to be included in a later batch of dates.

Journey’s origins date back to San Francisco in 1973, with original members connecting after previously performing in Santana, the Steve Miller Band and Frumious Bandersnatch. Schon is the group’s sole continuous member, and keyboardist Jonathan Cain is the only other member of the multi-era cohort that was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2017. They’re joined by drummer Deen Castrovo (since 1998), keyboardist Jason Derlatka (since 2020), bassist Todd Jensen (since 2020) and vocalist Arnel Pineda, who has capably filled the void left by Steve Perry since 2008. The band previously endured a hiatus from 1987-1995, and they’ve weathered frequent lineup changes, infighting and internal legal battles in recent years.

“It’s been an incredible ride,” said Cain, who joined in 1980 and is credited as a co-writer on “Don’t Stop Believin’.”  “We’ve shared our music with millions and this tour is about gratitude, connection and one last chance to feel that magic together. We wouldn’t want it any other way.”

“I’m honored to be part of this legacy and I’m grateful for having been welcomed with such open arms,” Pineda reflected. “Every night on stage has been a dream come true.”
