Kali Uchis says she’s pulling her song with D4vd following the latest developments in which the body of a missing teen was discovered in his car.
Singer Kali Uchis has announced she’s pulling her collaboration with rising star D4vd after the latest developments in a case in which the body of a missing teenage girl was found in his impounded car. The Colombian-American star took to Instagram after remarks made about her track with D4vd called “Crashing.”
“Not my friend,” she wrote of D4vd. “I did a song with him, which is currently in the process of being taken down.”
Uchis’ decision comes following a medical examiner officials’ release on Wednesday. That press release revealed the body found in the trunk of an impounded Tesla registered to D4vd was identified as the teenage girl who went missing in Lake Elsinore last year. Celeste Rivas (15) was identified by the Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office.
Her body was discovered by authorities on September 8 after responding to a call at an impound lot of a “foul odor” coming from a vehicle that was brought in from a Hollywood street earlier that day. Police located the body inside a bag placed in the front trunk of the Tesla, which was registered to the 20-year-old D4vd—real name is David Anthony Burke.
Burke had been out of Los Angeles for a month while on tour when the discovery was made; his representatives reported he was fully cooperating with authorities and had not been named a suspect. But once the body was identified, D4vd cancelled his scheduled appearance in Seattle that night.
To make matters worse for the singer, both Crocs and Hollister have pulled advertising campaigns featuring D4vd “with respect” for the ongoing investigation.
But even more damning is the scuttlebutt online: the lyrics to an unreleased song allegedly shared by D4vd previously on his Discord server have been making the rounds—and he sings extensively about a girl named Celeste.
Other screenshots have emerged, allegedly originating from D4vd’s Discord channel, in which longtime fans seemed to know about a girl named Celeste and her apparent relationship with the singer when Celeste Rivas would have been as young as 11 years old.
Celeste Rivas was identified as being 5’1”, weighing 120lbs and with black hair. She had a tattoo on her right index finger that read, “Shhh…”, a tattoo D4vd also shares, but which was popularized by superstar Rihanna over 15 years ago.
D4vd has yet to publicly comment on the matter.
