Earlier this month, Kanye West announced his campaign for the 2020 presidential election. Now, less than two weeks after the news, the rapper is reportedly planning to end his campaign.

A member of West’s team has reportedly told the Intelligencer that “he’s out” of the 2020 election.

Last week, West gave an interview to Forbes claiming that he is serious about running for president. Within the interview, West talks about wanting the U.S. government to resemble Black Panther‘s Wakanda, his plans to end police brutality and more. West also says that he is running as an independent as opposed to Republican since Trump is campaigning for his second term.

Now, it appears that West’s involvement in the presidential race is coming to an end. Campaign member Steve Kramer recently spoke to the Intelligencer about the status of West’s campaign.

As Kramer shares, West entered the presidential race late in the game. Due to this, his name is unable to appear on many state ballots despite the overwhelming support.

“We had overwhelming support to get him on the ballot,” he says. “Whether anybody is going to vote for him or not is up to them. They [the West campaign] got a lot of people who they’ve got both on their volunteer side and their contracted side.”

According to the report, West’s campaign has been spending a lot of time trying to get on the Florida and South Carolina ballots specifically. However, to appear on Florida’s ballot, the campaign has until July 15 to collect 132,781 required signatures.

Due to the campaign’s timing, West will not appear on various state ballots. This aspect makes it difficult for West to earn enough votes to be elected. Despite the campaign’s efforts, Kramer says that West is out of the race.

“He’s out,” he says. “I’ll let you know what I know once I get all our stuff canceled. We had over 180 people out there today.”

Kramer also shares that West has many supporters in the United States. Although the campaign was short-lived, Kramer has no negative feelings towards the rapper.

“I have nothing good or bad to say about Kanye,” Kramer says. “Everyone has their personal decision about why they make decisions. Running for president has to be one of the hardest things for someone to actually contemplate at that level.”

This latest news comes after TMZ reported that West’s family is concerned he’s in the middle of a bipolar episode. The July 9 report says that “our sources say his family and those close to him are worried, but they believe things will stabilize as they have in the past.”

Along with this, West shared a video of him registering to vote in Wyoming last week. In 2016, the rapper made headlines after his Trump endorsement when he revealed that he didn’t actually vote in the presidential election.
