KPop Demon Hunters wins Golden Globes Best Original Score

Kpop Demon Hunters’ worldwide hit “Golden” won Best Original Song at the 2026 Golden Globe Awards, beating out Miley Cyrus, Stephen Schwartz, Raphael Saadiq, Nick Cave, and more.

Netflix’s smash hit film Kpop Demon Hunters and its soundtrack have rapidly become a pop culture phenomenon. Now, the songwriters behind the movie’s global hit “Golden” have won Best Original Song at the 2026 Golden Globe Awards—their first Golden Globes nomination and win.

The songwriting team consisting of Ejae, Joong Gyu Kwak, Yu Han Lee, Hee Dong Nam, Jeong Hoon Seo, Park Hong Jun, and Mark Sonnenblick beat out a who’s who of popular 2025 film soundtrack hits. Other nominees included Miley Cyrus, Mark Ronson, Andrew Wyatt, and Simon Franglen (Avatar: Fire and Ash’s “Dream As One”); Raphael Saadiq and Ludwig Göransson (Sinners’ “I Lied to You); Stephen Schwartz (Wicked: For Good’s “No Place Like Home” and “The Girl in the Bubble”); and Nick Cave and Bryce Dessner (Train Dreams’ “Train Dreams”).

“Thank you so much to Golden Globes for this incredible honor,” said “Golden” singer Ejae as she and her cowriters accepted the award from presenters Charli XCX and Stranger Things’ Joe Keery.

“When I was a little girl, I worked tirelessly for ten years to [fulfill] one dream: to become a K-pop idol. I was rejected and disappointed that my voice wasn’t good enough. So I wrote songs and music to get through it. Now I’m here as a singer and a songwriter, and it’s a dream come true to be part of a song that is helping other girls, other boys, and everyone from all ages to get through their hardships and accept themselves. So thank you, Golden Globes, for accepting my voice and our voice,” she concluded. “I can confidently say rejection is redirection.”

Ludwig Göransson and Sinners may not have won Best Original Song, but they took home the trophy for Best Original Score, beating out other films like Frankenstein (Alexandre Desplat) and F1 (Hans Zimmer). Several other musicians who appeared on stage last night to present awards included Miley Cyrus, Snoop Dogg, and Blackpink’s Lisa.
