Lauryn Hill Postpones Texas Tour Date Due to Vocal Strain
Last night, Lauryn Hill announced the postponement of her previously scheduled appearance at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas. In September, Hill kicked off her The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill tour, to commemorate the 25th anniversary of her renowned, solo album of the same name. The postponement of the Oct. 30 show marks the second canceled cocert due to the singer’s vocal strain.
On Oct. 22, Hill took to social media to announce the tour’s first postponed show, scheduled for Oct. 23 at the Wells Fargo Arena in Philadelphia. Following the advice from her doctors, Hill wrote, “It is with disappointment that I am writing this note to you. On the advice of my physicians, I have no choice but to postpone the show tomorrow.” She added, “I need to rest my voice to prevent any more serious strain or damage to my vocal chords.” Read the full post here.
The singer/rapper continued her tour with a performance at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto on Oct. 26 and with a gig at the United Center in Chicago on Oct. 28 before Hill announced the second postponed tour date–her Fort Worth, Texas show. Hill noted that she had been “masking the injury with medication. This isn’t safe or sustainable.” See her full statement below.
