Lenny Kaye Confirms 75th Birthday Show

Lenny Kaye will celebrate his 75th birthday with a show at New York’s Bowery Ballroom on December 27. Billed as Lenny Kaye (and Friends), the evening’s performers have not yet been revealed, but will likely include his longtime collaborator Patti Smith and members of her band. Kaye’s 70th birthday celebration at the same venue also included a nod to his seminal Nuggets box set. Kaye is slated to release his rock-history book Lightning Striking: Ten Transformative Moments in Rock and Roll on January 22.
In related news, Smith and her band, including Kaye, will perform at Brooklyn, NY’s Brooklyn Steel on December 28 and Port Chester, NY’s Capitol Theatre on December 30. The latter show falls on Smith’s own 75th birthday.
