Lewis Capaldi Covers Paramore in BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge
Lewis Capaldi transformed Paramore’s pop anthem “Still Into You” into a tender, acoustic arrangement during his recent BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge appearance.
The Scottish singer-songwriter delivered a wedding-ready version of the song, supported by a full band featuring strings and horns that stripped away the original’s thunderous energy in favour of something more intimate.
The cover showcased Capaldi’s ability to reimagine familiar material through his distinctive lens. Certain moments in his rendition evoked comparisons to Coldplay’s “Fix You”, particularly in the warm, opening chord progressions that established the softer tone.
During the Live Lounge session, Capaldi also performed two of his own songs. He debuted “Almost”, an unreleased song that offered listeners a glimpse of his forthcoming material, alongside “Pointless” from his 2023 album Broken By Desire to Be Heavenly Sent. The session concluded with “Something in the Heavens”, his latest single, performed in its live iteration.
This appearance marks another step in Capaldi’s gradual return to the public eye following his decision to step away while managing his battle with Tourette’s syndrome. The singer has been strategic about his comeback, selecting high-profile platforms like the Live Lounge to showcase both new material and his evolving artistry.
Capaldi has confirmed plans for an EP release later this year, which will include his recent singles and material he has been teasing during his comeback performances. “I don’t know about an album, but I’m doing an EP at some point this year, and then an album maybe will follow next year,” he revealed earlier this year. He has also announced an extensive tour, his first since taking his hiatus.
Capaldi’s Live Lounge performance forms part of the 2025 Live Lounge Month series, which has already featured Renée Rapp covering SZA’s “Good Days” and Olivia Dean. The remainder of October will see appearances from Demi Lovato, Wet Leg, Mumford & Sons, Louis Tomlinson, and Florence + the Machine.
Paramore’s connection to the Live Lounge dates back to 2017, when they covered Drake’s “Passionfruit” and performed “Hard Times” from After Laughter. Hayley Williams returned solo in 2020, performing “Simmer” alongside a cover of Dua Lipa’s “Don’t Start Now”.
