Listen: Bob Dylan Dusts Off “Til I Fell in Love With You” for First Time in Nearly a Decade
The bust-out bard is back!
After taking a night off from his ongoing delivery of dust-offs and first-time covers on May 16 at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl, Bob Dylan resumed his current motif at the latest Outlaw Music Festival tour stop on Sunday, May 18 at the Toyota Amphitheatre in Wheatland, Calif.
During last night’s appearance in central California, the 83-year-old artist placed Time Out of Mind cut, the 1997 release “Til I Fell in Love With You” in the setlist’s 10th position. Before the arrival of Dylan’s revitalized pull, he started his Outlaw set in the regulatory fashion: “ Things Have Changed,” “Simple Twist of Fate,” “Forgetful Heart…”
Continuing down the path of well-received setlist arrivals, Dylan checked off “To Ramona,” “Early Roman Kings,” “Under the Red Sky,” “I’ll Make It All Up To You,” and “All Along the Watchtower,” before arriving at the night’s bust out. The last time Dylan performed “Til I Fell in Love With You” was on July 12, 2015, during a concert at Base de loisirs de Pratgraussals in Albi, France, on his Never Ending Tour.
Last night’s placement concluded a nearly 10-year performance gap and continued his current pattern of dusting off almost forgotten articles of his live repertoire. Notably, during the latest stint of Dylan’s Rough and Rowdy Ways tour, he refrained from pulling bust-outs. Instead, he let tension build and eventually burst on the road with Nelson beginning last week, May 13, with four bust outs and three live debuts in Arizona. The pattern continued during ensuing appearances, apart from the Hollywood Bowl on May 16. Read more here.
