Rock & Roll Hall of Fame recipient and veteran musician John Fogerty is reclaiming his artistic ownership by releasing Legacy: The Creedence Clearwater Revival Years, due on August 22, 2025, via Concord. The famed artist announced the impending arrival during his sold-out 80th birthday celebration at the Beacon Theatre stage last night in New York City.

The 20-track collection, which features the artist’s most beloved contributions to Creedence Clearwater Revival, such as Proud Mary, “Bad Moon Rising,” “Fortunate Son,” and “Have You Ever Seen the Rain,” has been newly recorded to mark the musician’s ownership and rights over his contributions to the CCR catalog.

“For most of my life I did not own the songs I had written,” Fogerty commented via press release. “Getting them back changes everything. Legacy is my way of celebrating that—of playing these songs on my terms, with the people I love.”

Legacy’s production was a family affair. The 80-year-old artist produced the album with the help of his son, and wife, Julie, who assumed the role of executive producer. She commented, “I knew firsthand how much it meant for John to get his publishing back. It has been so joyful and beautiful since this happened for him. This is a celebration of his life’s work. It is the biggest party for the good guy/artist winning.”

Lineage presses its thumb into the LP’s tracking list, with help from Fogerty’s sons, Shane and Tyler, who perform across the record, mixed by engineer Bob Clearmountain. Also featured on the LP is drummer Matt Chamberlain (Pearl Jam, Edie Brickell & New Bohemians), keyboardist and Fogerty’s longtime touring member, Bob Malone, and Rob Stone.

As a preview and initial listen to Fogerty’s forthcoming Legacy set, he has issued newly recorded editions of “Up Around The Bend,” “Have You Ever Seen The Rain,” and “Porterville.” Listen now.
