Maggie Collins was the music industry’s representative Thursday night, August 21st at Queensland’s 40 Under 40 Awards, presented at Brisbane’s Howard Smith Wharves.

Based in the River City, Collins is a tireless advocate for artists, and currently serves as a member of the board of QMusic, producers of BIGSOUND and the QMusic Awards, and as Executive Director of Association of Artist Managers, for which she received her 40 Under 40 nod.

An experienced artist manager and former radio presenter at Triple J, Collins took the top job at AAM in 2021, and was instrument in the launch of the annual AAM Awards and Michael’s Rule, an industry code named after the late Michael McMartin.

It was Collins who announced Michael’s Rule to the industry at the third annual ceremony in Sydney. Also, Collins co-founded Sound of Silence and led the now-shuttered music services business Morning Belle, through which she guided the careers of DZ Deathrays, The John Steel Singers, Donny Benét and others.

As executive director of AAM, reads a statement from Solstice Media, organisers of the annual Queensland 40 Under 40 industry awards, “Maggie endeavours to develop, protect and promote the reputation and interests of music managers and their artists across the national music ecosystem.”

The awards ceremony celebrates the “passion, vision and achievements” of the Sunshine State’s young entrepreneurs and leaders, “who will grow and shape the future” of Queensland, reads a statement.

Winners on the night included Christopher Seaton (Director of Brewing Brands and Hrvst, Co-Founder and CEO of Origin Tea for First Among Equals), Lucy Henry-Hicks (CEO and Creative Director of DISSH for Inspiring Female Leaders Award), Saara Jamieson (founder of Cool Beans Underwear for the Game Changer Award), and designer, artist, author and stylist Rachel Burke (Creative Thinker Award).

Alex Raineri, the musician, radio presenter, and director of the Brisbane Music Festival, is a member of the class of 2025, which is published here in full.
