moe. Commence Northeast Weekend in Rhode Island, Welcome Warren Haynes and Emma Derhak in Maine

This past weekend, moe. took their touring pursuits to the Northeast, arriving at the Uptown Theater in Providence, R.I., on Saturday, September 6. During the weekend kick-starter, the ensemble was keen on delivering material from either end of their discography. Mixed into the two-set performance was member Rob Derhak’s Songs For Other People feature, “Ups and Downs,” keyboardist Nate Wilson’s Ghost of Jupiter output, “Yellow Tigers,” and Led Zeppelin’s tantalizing nod to the land of milk and honey, “Going to California.” 

During the band’s follow-up on Sunday, September 7, which was billed as a stop with Gov’t Mule at Bowl in the Pines in Sidney, Maine, Haynes sat in with moe. The team-up occurred at the end of their set, providing a solid foundation for The Allman Brothers Band’s “Elizabeth Reed.” The collaboration was steeped in jam experience and served as a fitting tribute to the Peach State originators. Three moves ahead of Haynes’ arrival, Rob Dehak’s daughter, Emma, joined in as well, contributing to a cover of The Marshall Tucker Band’s “Can’t You See.” 

For Gov’t Mule’s stage time, they brought out Chuck Garvey, who riffed on “Sco Mule.” After performing a few tunes sans guests, the Haynes-led ensemble brought out Al Schnier to assist on a joint rendition of Jerry Garcia’s famed “Sugaree.”
