moe. Host Eggy for The Band’s “Ophelia” in Ohio

On Saturday, August 16, moe. and Eggy concluded their short and sweet collaborative run with one final shared bill at Cleveland Heights, Ohio’s Cain Park Evans Amphitheater. For a week and change, the longstanding jam innovators and celebrated scene up-and-comers rode around the Midwest for a total of eight engagements, the majority of which saw the two groups sharing their expertise in the form of traded sit-ins. For the limited run’s closing show, moe. brought on the most notable instance of this trend, tapping their collective of companions for a fan-favorite cover.

Eggy got the ball rolling on Friday night with a memorable opening set, featuring the group’s first treatment of the old original “Friend of Mine” since Sept. 2018 and an expansive closing jam that packed a cover of The Band’s “Chest Fever” into “Tiny Miracles.” While no members of moe. joined in for this last opportunity, guitarist Chuck Garvey lent a hand on the previous night, when he bolstered Eggy’s long-running cover of Little Feat’s “Time Loves a Hero.”

When it was their time to shine, moe. stepped into the spotlight with the old Wormwood essential “Not Coming Down,” then merged into its album pairing of “Okayalright.” “32 Things” cut even further back to the band’s origins, energizing the crowd with a beloved setlist staple before another homage to The Band, this time in the form of moe.’s “Ophelia” cover, which dates back to 2017. To amplify this tribute, the group welcomed a sit-in from Eggy’s guitarist Jake Brownstein, drummer Alex Bailey and keyboardist Dani Battat, who are currently representing the band on the road while bassist Mike Goodman takes a mental health hiatus.

moe. closed out their first set with “Four,” accented by a tease of Frank Zappa’s “Inca Roads” from Garvey. The band returned for a second set with “Bat Country,” drawn from their 2025 studio album Circle of Giants, then proceeded into “Waiting for the Punchline,” “White Lightning Turpentine” and a cover of Led Zeppelin’s “No Quarter” before incoming storms forced an early ending.

Moe. will return to the stage at Lake George, N.Y.’s Adirondaack Independence Festival from Aug. 29-31. Eggy will perform next at baltimore’s WTMD First Thursday Festival on Sept. 4. Find tickets and more information at moe.org/tour and eggymusic.com/tour.
