Mumford and Sons will revive their train-trotting tour. This concert concept originated in 2011 as a tribute to troubadour Woody Guthrie, by hitting the tracks this summer for a four-stop jaunt under the same name, Railroad Revival Tour. The impending run begins on August 3, 2025, at Woldenburg Park in New Orleans and continues with more stops at outdoor venues near locomotive travel hubs.

Celisse, Chris Thile, Ketch Secor, Leif Vollebekk, Lucius, Madison Cunningham, Nathaniel Rateliff, Trombone Shorty, and others will join the concert hosts as musical participants. On Aug. 4, they will follow Mumford & Sons from New Orleans to Spartanburg, S.C.’s Piedmont Fairgrounds. The ensemble will hit the tracks again on Aug. 5, rolling into Richmond, Va., for a gig at Allianz Amphitheater at Riverfront.

The musicians will take an extra day getting from point A to B, mainly from Virginia to Vermont, in time for their Aug. 7 finale at the Champlain Valley Exposition Center in Burlington.

Railroad Revival originated in 2011 as a traveling musical showcase featuring Mumford, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, and Old Crow Medicine Show, comprised of six concerts, that took the bands from Oakland, Calif., to their tour finale in New Orleans. Notably, each show concluded with a collective rake on “This Train Is Bound for Glory.”

The jaunt was recorded and turned into Big Easy Express, a documentary directed by Emmett Malloy. The film debuted at SXSW in 2012 and won a Grammy in 2013.

The 2025 revival begins in August. For tickets and additional information, visit www.mumfordandsons.com.
