Mushroom Group Confirms Key Promotions, Major Departure
Major staffing changes have swept through Mushroom Group ahead of the new year, with two key promotions announced alongside a significant departure from the music company.
Maddison Dutton has stepped up from Label Assistant to Label Coordinator, while Colby Cross has transitioned from Media & Artist Relations Assistant to Media & Artist Relations Coordinator.
Dutton expressed her excitement about the new role on LinkedIn, stating she looked forward to “working alongside a legendary team on new release projects, and starting my journey with our international artist roster.” Her tenure at Mushroom Group has been marked by significant achievements, including her involvement in Mia Wray’s debut album hi, it’s nice to meet me, which reached the top of the ARIA charts.
The Label Coordinator role represents recognition of Dutton’s contributions over the past year and a half, during which she supported Senior Label Managers across various projects. Her work extended to collaborations with Juno Mamba and comprehensive involvement with Confidence Man projects. Dutton acknowledged the guidance received from Blaise Sherrie and ST during her development at the company.
Cross’s promotion to Media & Artist Relations Coordinator expands his responsibilities across both Mushroom Music and MG Live’s domestic and international recording and touring roster. His new position involves assisting the publicity team while continuing media release distribution and music servicing, with particular focus on community radio relationships and publicity campaign support.
“Plus continuing to distribute our media releases and music servicing, with a focus on working closely with Community Radio and supporting the success of our publicity campaigns,” Cross outlined his expanded role in a LinkedIn announcement.
However, the promotions coincide with Blaise Sherrie’s departure from Mushroom Group after an extensive 11-and-a-half-year tenure. Sherrie’s exit marks the end of a significant chapter within the organisation, with her statement reflecting on the industry’s unique nature and the relationships formed during her time there.
“The music industry is a pretty special place, and I feel incredibly lucky to have spent so many years working alongside artists, managers and colleagues I respect deeply,” Sherrie commented. She indicated plans for a summer break before considering future opportunities in 2026.
