Taylor Swift's engagement

The vast majority of Americans say they don’t care “at all” about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s engagement, according to a nationwide poll.

A nationwide survey conducted from August 29 to September 2 found that just 4% of people say they care “a lot” about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s engagement. But the majority of Americans—a whopping 78%—say they don’t care “at all” about the superstar couple’s impending nuptials.

That level of indifference is surprising in what has been a significant relationship in pop culture. But both Swift and Kelce’s unique levels of fame only ensure that Americans are certainly aware of the couple’s new relationship status. According to the poll, over three-quarters of them have heard or read either a lot (23%) or a little (54%) about the engagement. But very few are obsessed with it.

Dividing up the data by demographics doesn’t do much to sway that dynamic, either. Americans aged 18 to 29 are more likely to say they at least care “a little” about the engagement (26%) than the greater population (18%)—but 70% of adults under 30 still say they don’t care at all.

Notably, there’s also no statistical difference between the number of men and women who either care or don’t. Moreover, most Americans aren’t very judgmental of the Swift and Kelce relationship. While almost a quarter of those polled say that “Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are good for each other,” most (60%) selected “It’s not for me to say.” Fewer than 5% apiece believe that either Taylor or Travis could do better than the other.

The survey of 1,690 U.S. adults was conducted by YouGov, a global market research and data analytics company that collects and analyzes public opinion from a large online community of millions worldwide.
