Neal Casal Music Foundation Announces Archival Album and Photo Book

Neal Casal’s legacy carries on. 

Today, the musician’s foundation announced the forthcoming release of a new collection of mainly unreleased early studio recordings and demos, delivered under No One Above You (The Early Years 1991-1998), due September 12, 2025. Accentuating the forthcoming sonic arrival is a book of rare and unseen photographs, No One Above You (Christy Coleman + Neal Casal – A Love Story In Photographs). As an initial preview, the first single and opening track, “Silver Dollar,” is out now. 

The impending collection of music was tracked between 1991 and 1995, prior to the arrival of Casal’s debut LP, Fadeaway Diamond Time. This effectively kicked off the celebrated singer and songwriter’s solo venture, accounting for 10 distinct sets that assisted in the modern definition of roots and Americana music. The newly announced set includes covers of Tom T. Hall, The Incredible String Band, and Floyd “Red Crow” Westerman.

Casal’s longtime manager, Gary Waldman, Cardinals accomplice Jon Graboff, and decorated engineer Jim Scott compiled and remixed No One Above You. The group provided thoughtful additions like Casal’s original takes and performances by John Ginty, Dan Fadel, Angie McKenna, Jeff Hill, Graboff, and others. 

No One Above You (Christy Coleman + Neal Casal – A Love Story In Photographs) adds a visual layer and accounts of the couple’s shared time, by presenting like an image-based memoir, with stills by the musician, his former partner, and friends. 

The album will be available on limited edition 180-gram green vinyl, 180-gram black vinyl, CD, and digital formats. The book is accompanied by two limited edition tees designed by Nashville-based Imogene + Willie, each featuring an original SX-70 Polaroid from the book.
