At the end of another triumphant year of music and community, the Newport Festivals Foundation has announced an opportunity to take home something more than memories. From July 25-27 and August 1-3, the 66th annual Newport Folk Festival and 71st annual Newport Jazz Festival welcomed more than 100 acclaimed artists, with rising stars and longtime legends representing a wide variety of musical styles; many of those names are featured on the events’ signature artist placards, available now through charity auctions.

While The Newport Festivals Foundation’s annual post-festival auctions typically offer a wealth of options for the official artist placards seen around the grounds of Fort Adams State Park, this year’s listings include only six from each event, supplemented by signed setlists, posters and a few other special artifacts. The placards are one-of-one, hand-drawn keepsakes created by Nan Parati, the festival’s official sign-writer of more than 30 years. Fans can bid on artist-signed artist signs for Jack Antonoff, Mt. Joy, Maren Morris, Jesse Welles, Janelle Monae, The Roots, The Philadelphia Experiment (Christian McBride, Questlove and Uri Caine), Flying Lotus, Esperanza Spalding and Jacob Collier, as well as unsigned cards for Nathaniel Rateliff and Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

Beyond the placards, this year’s auctions include 45 printed and handwritten setlists, a signed guitar from Welles, posters for both festivals signed by all of the billed performers and two signed softballs from the inaugural Newport Folk All-Star Game.

All proceeds from the auctions will benefit the Newport Festivals Foundation’s music education and artist relief initiatives, which support the cause of preserving musical traditions and advancing innovative new forms for the future.
