Night at the Barracks Expands Nationally with Brisbane Launch of Night at the Parkland

Second Sunday’s Brendan Maher and Cameron Coghlan

Australian-owned events company Second Sunday has announced the return of its flagship concert series Night at The Barracks for a fourth year—alongside the launch of a new sibling event, Night at The Parkland, set to debut in Brisbane this September in partnership with Brisbane Festival.

Following three years of sold-out shows at Manly’s North Head Sanctuary, the expansion marks a significant step in Second Sunday’s growth strategy as the team looks to replicate the brand’s success in new markets.

“With the fourth installation of Night at the Barracks, and the announcement of our expansion into Brisbane with Night at The Parkland, we are proud to showcase the best of Australian music,” said Brendan Maher, co-founder of Second Sunday. “Over the last three years we have hosted over 30 headline and 70 support acts on our stage, with a strong emphasis on up-and-coming local artists as special guests/supports. We are excited to expand into other markets across Australia and look forward to bringing this same opportunity to up-and-coming artists as we continue to grow.”

The Night at The Parkland series will run 5th–14th September at the Roma Street Parkland Amphitheatre and features a carefully curated all-Australian lineup. Headliners include ICEHOUSE, Lime Cordiale, Cut Copy (with KLP), Amy Shark, Grinspoon celebrating 30 years, Xavier Rudd, and James Johnston. Brisbane audiences can also expect support slots from artists such as Jack River, Birren, Bad//Dreems, and Zac & George.

In Sydney, Night at The Barracks will follow from 12th September to 5th October, with highlights including Missy Higgins, Hoodoo Gurus (marking the 40th anniversary of Mars Needs Guitars), Kate Ceberano’s Australian Made project, Ian Moss & Mark Seymour, Furnace and the Fundamentals’ 15th anniversary celebration, and Yesterday’s Gone: The Fleetwood Mac Legacy featuring Kav Temperley, Fanny Lumsden, and Charlie Collins.

Cameron Coghlan, Second Sunday co-founder, noted the importance of maintaining high production standards as the event scales. “Today is a special milestone as we bring our beloved Night at The Barracks concept to life in Brisbane, with the launch of Night at The Parkland at the stunning Roma Street Parkland,” he said. “With a strong focus on sustainability, elevated production values, and a premium audience experience, we’ve considered every detail. We want audiences and artists to have an incredible evening out.”

The event is produced in collaboration with Brisbane Festival, with Artistic Director Louise Bezzina calling the new addition “an epic outdoor concert series” and a welcome inclusion to the city’s growing major events calendar.

Second Sunday’s commitment to sustainability continues across both events, with 100% renewable energy powering the sites, reusable aluminium cups, recycled merchandise, and a push for audience use of public transport and cycling infrastructure.

General public tickets for Night at The Parkland go on sale Tuesday, 27th May, with Night at The Barracks tickets available from Wednesday, 21st May.
