Gorillaz Fortnite Festival

The biggest virtual band in the world, Gorillaz, are the Icon of Fortnite Festival Season 10, making their debut in the game on August 26.

The tenth season of Fortnite Festival launches in the game on August 26 with OG virtual band Gorillaz set to be the headlining music act for the in-game event. Fortnite developer Epic Games announced the news on Monday.

Gorillaz—consisting of virtual band members 2D, Murdoc, Noodle, and Russel—was created by musician Damon Albarn (Blur) and comic artist Jamie Hewlett (Tank Girl). Their Fortnite Festival tie-in will include playable Jam Tracks “DARE,” “Clint Eastwood,” and “On Melancholy Hill,” as well as an emote for “DARE” which is choreographed to the song. Fortnite Festival’s “Mainstage” has also transformed, complete with towering buildings, a street train, and filled with graffiti.

“It’s an honour for all of you that I am finally to be immortalised in my own fiefdom. Watch out serfs, here I come,” said Murdoc Niccals of Gorillaz, in a statement.

Premium Jam tracks from other artists featured this season include “Montagem Tomada (Slowed)” by MXZI, “Run It Up” by Hanumankind, and “Interstate Love Song” by Stone Temple Pilots.

All four Gorillaz members will be playable characters in Fortnite via Outfits, complete with themed in-game accessories. Gorillaz in-game cosmetics will be available in the Fortnite Shop or through the Music Pass as Free or Premium Rewards.

Epic Games will also host a “Fortnite Festival IRL” event at the Fortnite x Gorillaz Pop Up at Hackney Bridge Garden in London, starting now through September 3. The pop-up event “merges the worlds of Gorillaz and Fortnite into an immersive activation filled with gaming stations, giveaways, live game streams, and DJ performances.”

Gorillaz join a growing list of previous Fortnite Festival icons that include Bruno Mars (Season 9), Sabrina Carpenter (Season 8), Hatsune Miku (Season 7), Snoop Dogg (Season 6), Karol G (Season 5), Metallica (Season 4), Billie Eilish (Season 3), Lady Gaga (Season 2), and The Weeknd (Season 1).
