One Night Stand 2025 continues to give off good vibes.

Triple j’s roaming, all-ages festival this year raised $57,000 for Support Act, vital funding that will go towards the organisation’s crisis relief and mental health support work with the Western Australian creative community, says a rep for the music industry charity.

Support Act was a beneficiary of One Night Stand 2025, presented last Saturday, May 24th in Busselton, regional WA, and featuring a lineup with Spacey Jane, LUUDE, Ruby Fields and more.

This year, says Clive Miller, CEO of Support Act, “we’re committed to ensuring the funds raised directly support music workers in Western Australia, providing critical mental health and well-being resources to our creative community.

Since July 2023, Support Act has provided $167,000 in crisis relief to 61 music workers across WA, Miller explains. Each grant is “a lifeline for someone navigating illness, injury or personal hardship.”

Since 2004, triple j’s One Night Stand has been a staple for regional Australia, bringing top-tier live music to towns that rarely get the festival treatment.

Last year’s return to Warrnambool marked the festival’s first edition in five years.

“Through our wellbeing programs, delivered with partners like Western Australian Music,” says Support Act’s Miller, “we’ve helped the music community in Western Australia manage trauma, improve workplace safety, access mental health support, and find solid ground in times of financial stress.”

The seed of Support Act was planted in 1980 as an idea, as a concept with Stevie Wright, singer of the Easybeats, and music publisher John Bromell.

Over the following years, the late Bromell encouraged the music industry to participate. And with financial support from founding members ARIA PPCA and APRA AMCOS, the organisation was incorporated as a public company limited by guarantee on Aug. 7, 1997, and formally launched the following day. Support Act was granted charity status in 2000.

With the funds generated this month through its partnership with triple j and One Night Stand, Support Act is “continuing our mission to support the mental health of music workers across Australia, with a special focus on supporting artists and industry professionals in Western Australia,” Miller explains.

“We’re incredibly grateful to triple j for creating such a brilliant event that not only celebrates Australian music, but also shines a spotlight on regional communities and raises vital funds to support the people behind the music.”
