Ride have shared their angelic new song ‘Clouds Of Saint Marie’ – tune in now.
The seminal shoegaze group are back, with ‘This Is Not A Safe Place’ – the second LP since their 2014 – set to land on August 16th.
Produced by Erol Alkan and mixed by Alan Moulder, the record shows the band’s incredible breadth.
New song ‘Clouds Of Saint Marie’ has a drifting, heavenly quality, it’s vision of endless sky a neat inversion of the waves that wrapped around the band’s 1990 debut ‘Nowhere’.
There’s a deeply visual quality to the track, and indeed to the record as a whole, with the band citing the recent Jean Michel Basquiat exhibition at the Barbican as a major influence.
It’s a beatific if slightly more gothic twist on the shoegaze sound; angelic but also marked by shades of black, the slender guitar lines interlock amid the sighing vocal.
Tune in now.
