Roger Waters criticizes Ozzy Osbourne and his career just weeks after his death. Now, Ozzy’s son Jack responds—and he’s not pulling any punches.
Just six weeks after Ozzy Osbourne’s death, Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters has criticized the once-Black Sabbath frontman for bringing “idiocy and nonsense” into music culture. Ozzy’s son, Jack Osbourne, wasted no time in delivering an angry response on social media.
Speaking on the Independent Ink podcast, Waters spoke about pop culture figures and their ability to distract people from important issues.
“Ozzy Osbourne—who just died, bless him—in his, whatever that state that he was in his whole life, we’ll never know. Although, he was all over the TV for hundreds of years with his idiocy and nonsense,” said Waters.
“The music, I have no idea, I couldn’t give a fuck. I don’t care about Black Sabbath; I never did. I have no interest in, ’waahhh!’” Waters added, sticking his tongue out in an impression more akin to Gene Simmons than Ozzy. “And biting the heads off chickens or whatever they do. I couldn’t care less.”
Osbourne’s only biological son, Jack, was understandably unhappy with Waters’ remarks about his late father, and he took to his Instagram Stories to deliver a scathing response.
“Hey Roger Waters—fuck you. How pathetic and out of touch you’ve become. The only way to seem to get attention these days is by vomiting out bullshit in the press. My father always thought you were a cunt—thanks for proving him right.”
Jack’s message is actually the second time in a week that one of Ozzy’s children has rushed to his defense. On WWE Raw last week, wrestler Becky Lynch criticized Ozzy’s hometown of Birmingham. That prompted his daughter Kelly to speak out, calling Lynch a “disrespectful dirtbag.”
Ozzy Osbourne passed away on July 22 following a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s disease. The metal legend played his final show with Black Sabbath on July 5 in his hometown of Birmingham in England, raising money for Parkinson’s research in the process.
