Suge Knight claims the 2Pac chain Drake purchased is actually a fake. “Whoever sold you that chain, Drake, you need to go beat his […] ass.”

On the heels of Drake announcing his purchase of a Death Row Records chain that once belonged to rap legend 2Pac, Suge Knight asserts the piece is a fake. The Death Row co-founder made the claim on The Art of Dialogue.

“Well, I’m quite sure it’s not true,” said Knight of the Toronto rapper’s acquisition. “When I came up with the idea to make the Death Row chain—one, it had never been done before. Two, it was like wearing, you know, it was like having your flag, your rag. You can’t tuck it; it means something.”

He doubled down: “That’s not 2Pac’s chain. It’s not a Death Row chain. Whoever sold you that chain, Drake, you need to go beat his motherfucking ass. Crazy.”

It’s not the first time Drake has nabbed—or claimed to nab—a piece of 2Pac’s jewelry. Last year, the “Hotline Bling” rapper bought 2Pac’s famous ring for over $1 million at auction.

The piece is made of gold, ruby, and diamonds, and features an inscription that reads, “Pac & Dada 1996,” referring to the late rapper’s engagement to then-girlfriend Kidada Jones. 2Pac wore the ring during his final public appearance at the 1996 MTV Video Music Awards, just days before he was killed in a drive-by shooting.

The ring has been a topic of contention in Drake’s now-infamous rap battle with California rapper Kendrick Lamar. Kendrick has twice demanded the return of 2Pac’s ring to the West Coast rap scene, with lyrics like, “Give me 2Pac’s ring back and I might give you a little respect.

Initially, the identity of the winning bidder for the ring was kept a secret, but Drake was eager to reveal his identity as the buyer. The ring has become the most valuable hip-hop artifact sold at auction.
