Suicidal Tendencies Name Support Acts for Sold-Out 2023 Australian Tour
Los Angeles thrash/hardcore heroes Suicidal Tendencies have unveiled the local supports who’ll be joining them on their sold-out 40th anniversary Australian tour this month. A handful of local acts will be sharing the support duties on ST’s Still Cyco Punk After All These Years Aussie rampage, kicking off tomorrow on the Gold Coast.
Brisbane-based female-fronted alt metal band Krave will be warming up the stage in Coolangatta, Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast, while Melbourne thrash-pop power duo Mannequin Death Squad will be on deck in Brisbane, Sydney and both Melbourne shows. Elsewhere, Sydney sludge-grunge duo Astrodeath will be joining the fun in Sydney, while Melbourne not-for-profit thrash-punk band Wolfpack will be opening up the mayhem at Melbourne’s Croxton Bandroom on Friday, 17th September.
Suicidal Tendencies – ‘Institutionalized’
Suicidal Tendencies will be using the tour to honour the 40th anniversary of their self-titled 1983 debut album, which contained the immortal crossover single ‘Institutionalized’ (listen above), and they’ll be playing the LP in full at all the shows, bar two.
The first couple of gigs, kicking off this Friday, 10th November at the Coolangatta Hotel and Sunday, 12th November at Kings Beach Tavern on the Sunshine Coast will see fans cop an exclusive thrash set, entitled How Will I Thrash Tomorrow, If I Can’t Even Get Cyco Today, packing a setlist curated especially for those who know ~what’s up~.
All dates on the tour are now totally sold out, bar Adelaide’s Froth and Fury Festival, which the band are headlining on Saturday, 18th November.
The tour will mark ST’s first Australian run in more than five years. Vocalist and founding member Mike “Cyco Miko” Muir is the band’s sole original member, but lead guitarist Dean Pleasants has been by his side since 1996.
