Sweet Relief Musician Fund has announced its annual benefit concert, which will draw on the five-decade legacy and songs from blues great Taj Mahal. The one-night event will happen on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at the Masonic Auditorium in San Francisco. Taking part in the musical giveback are an astounding list of guests, including Van Morrison, Stevie Van Zandt, George Thorogood, Mike Campbell, Patty Griffin, and others.

Beyond the aforementioned names, fellow participants include Jim Lauderdale, Will Hoge, Joe Henry, Ruby Amanfu, and Bobby Rush. The night will be led by musical director Henry and a house band billed as Greg Leisz, Jason Crosby, Dave Piltch, and Jay Bellerose. Commenting on the distinction, Mahal said via press release, “Thrilled to be honored by Sweet Relief and to celebrate with good feeling music. Thank you, Sweet Relief, for all that you do and for bringing us together.”

Mahal is one of the most influential figures in American blues music. With a prosperous career dating back to 1964, he has made a global impression through his exploration of roots music, touching on African, Hawaiian, and Latin influences, before fusion became a recognized practice. From his initial albums, 1968’s self-titled debut and his follow-up from the same year, The Natch’l Blues, he has built a legacy around a knack for innovation, a soulful voice, and a multi-instrumental skill set.

“What an incredible way to celebrate 32 years of Sweet Relief, by honoring the legendary Taj Mahal! This celebration is long overdue for such an acclaimed artist, and we are so grateful that he’s allowing us to bring these amazing artists together to bring the house down on February 21st. This will be a special show indeed, and is also a critical fundraiser for our music community in need of emergency financial assistance for physical or mental health care. More artists will be announced in the coming weeks and there are always a few surprises,” says Aric Steinberg, Executive Director at Sweet Relief Musicians Fund

Mahal is the latest in a growing list of musicians who have been honored by the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund. Last year’s event hovered on Joan Baez’s exemplary career, with featured performances from  Bonnie Raitt, Emmylou Harris, Joe Henry, Lucinda Williams, Margo Price, Ramblin’ Jack Elliott, Rosanne Cash, Taj Mahal, Tom Morello and others.

Tickets go on sale Friday, December 19, at 10 a.m. PT.
