Taylor Swift’s ‘The End of an Era’ Calls This LP the ‘Biggest Album of Her Career to Date’

As the the final episode of Taylor Swift’s The End of an Era comes to a close, title cards explaining what happened after The Eras Tour flash on the screen — including how she bought her masters, announced the news of her engagement to Travis Kelce and released The Life of a Showgirl. “On Oct. 3, 2025, Taylor released her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl. The biggest album of her career,” the postscript read, before adding “to date.”
That sounds like a promise to Swifties. Of course, The Life of a Showgirl — currently No. 1 on the Billboard 200, having spent 10 non-consecutive weeks at the top — broke the modern day record for equivalent album units earned in its first week with 4.002 million (outselling Adele’s 25, the record’s previous holder), and ended 2025 as the biggest album of the year on that chart. Its lead single, “The Fate of Ophelia,” stayed at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for eight weeks, tying “Anti Hero” from Midnights as her longest running No. 1. (“Ophelia” currently sits at No. 10 and is the only non-Christmas track in the top 10.)
During The End of an Era, Swift explained a little bit about the process behind Showgirl’s creation. “Making the album while I was on The Eras Tour, I was in a place in my life where life felt so full of possibility and it felt like I was figuring things out and it felt like so romantic and magical and passionate and I wanted to encapsulate that feeling on this album,” she said.
After releasing two blockbuster albums while on her record-breaking tour — and with plenty of life events ahead — it wouldn’t be a surprise if Swift’s trajectory continues to rise. And clearly whatever comes next, the superstar hopes to make it even bigger.
