The Amity Affliction Drop First Single With New Clean Vocalist, Jonny Reeves

As they gear-up to make their triple j Like A Version debut tomorrow, The Amity Affliction have unleashed their first lick of new music without estranged clean vocalist, Ahren Stringer.

The Gympie post-hardcore juggernauts have marked their new era by sharing a powerful fresh single dubbed ‘All That I Remember’, which features new recruit Johnny Reeves (Kingdom Of Giants) on clean vox for the very first time. The emotionally-charged track is packing a thundering, metallic riff and grapples with some intensely personal subject matter for frontman, Joel Birch.

“My mother knew only abuse and isolation, even in death as she cut her own children off; she died as she lived, paranoid and alone,” Birch shares of the track.

Hailing from from Sacramento, California, Reeves was first introduced to Amity via a recommendation from Spiritbox‘s Josh Gilbert. The vocalist’s official induction into the band comes after joining them live on their last few tours of North America and Europe.

Amity officially cut ties with their founding member, bassist and clean singer Ahren Stringer, after a public falling out.

Stringer was sidelined from touring last year by his bandmates to focus on his mental health and wellbeing, before briefly rejoining them for their Australian tour in late 2024.

However, after rumours recently started circulating about a potential permanent split, fuelled by Stringer’s cryptic social media posts, the band finally broke their silence on the matter in February.

In a joint statement, remaining members Joel Birch, Dan Brown and Joe Longobardi acknowledged that “we have been choosing to stay silent until now, as we wanted to handle this privately with respect to all involved”.

“Ahren will no longer be touring or recording with The Amity Affliction,” they elaborated. “We acknowledge that we have all had our fair share of issues over the years. But sadly, over time the relationship between Ahren and the band has completely broken down while he has been dealing with challenging elements of his personal life.”

Their statement concluded: “The music we’ve created with Ahren will forever bind us and we are thankful for the good times we had together. We wish Ahren all the best in his personal and professional future.”

Interestingly, in response to a fan’s comment inquiring about said future, Stringer confirmed that he’s got new solo music coming.

“Way better music and it’s all written by me,” he wrote. “Debut album coming real soon, and by soon I mean real soon.”
