Last night, The Disco Biscuits kicked off their long-awaited run at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, N.Y. The three-night stint was originally scheduled over two years ago in March of 2020 but was postponed due to the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

To celebrate the evening and the shows finally coming to fruition The Disco Biscuits busted out “Chemical Warfare Brigade” which hasn’t been played since Feb. 4, 2016, marking its first return in six years.  “Chemical Warfare Brigade” is also the title of The Disco Biscuits’ bassist Marc Brownstein’s rock opera.

“We’ve been waiting a long time to play these shows,” Brownstein said before starting the classic heavy set.

The rare “Chemical Warfare Brigade” was not played in its entirety but instead morphed into “Once The Fiddler Paid.” Next came a 20-minute rendition of 2000’s “House Dog Party Favor.” After the stand-alone, they jammed from “Story of the World” into “Munchkin Invasion” into “Story of the World” which marked the end of the first est.

Set two, which was a nonstop jam, started with the title track of guitarist Jon Gutwillig’s rock opera “Hot Air Balloon.” Following the resonant groove came the rocking “Shem-Rah Boo” which flowed into an inverted “Portal To An Empty Head.” Next came “the Great Abyss” which flowed back into “Shem-Rah Boo” bringing the set to a close.

They encored with an appropriate and extended performance of “Home Again.” The Disco Biscuits will perform at The Capitol Theatre again tonight.
