The Lumineers Unveil 20th Anniversary Soccer Jersey with GOAL Project, Benefiting Soccer Without Borders Colorado

The Lumineers will commemorate their 20th anniversary by partnering with the GOAL Project to create a limited-edition soccer jersey through their Common Goal initiative, which matches musicians with hometown teams in support of grassroots soccer. For this pairing, the indie-folk act will work with the West Aurora Girls Soccer Team, backed by Soccer Without Borders, “a national organization that supports newcomer and immigrant youth to overcome barriers of participation in sports to gain a sense of belonging and build social capital.” 

The West Aurora team is made up of athletes from a range of refugee communities in the Northwest region of Aurora, Colo. Last year’s squad not only took home SWB’s Denver Global Goal 5–created to promote greater gender equity in soccer for newcomer girls–and also included representation from 13 different countries. During the West Aurora team’s 2025-2026 season, they will don the special Lumineers jerseys to mark the collaboration.

Band references and album-inspired artwork decorate the jersey sleeves, along with the Lumineers crest that incorporates fan favorites “Stubborn Love” and “Brightside.” Also integrated into the design is a full-body “eye & vine” pattern, lyrics from the Cleopatra feature, “Sleep On The Floor,” and ‘05, to mark the year of their formation. Proceeds from jersey sales will “help cover Soccer Without Borders’ league fees, new equipment, coaching, and transportation, ensuring soccer remains free and accessible for every Aurora West player.”

We are so excited to see SWB’s West Aurora girls take the field in these new jerseys this season.”

It was so  rewarding for me to see this incredible group receive this special recognition from The Lumineers and to see their joy and excitement as they saw their new jerseys for the first time.”
