The Terrys, Miss Kaninna & More To Perform At ‘Sovereign Day Out’ This Weekend
Crime Scene Australia have announced Sovereign Day Out, a snap action protest that will feature performances from a litany of Indigenous Australia bands and artists. The event will take place tomorrow on Saturday, September 6th at Camp Sovereignty, located in the King’s Domain of Melbourne – which was the scene of a Neo-Nazi attack earlier this week following Sunday’s so-called “March For Australia”.
“An attack against one of us is an attack on us all,” a statement from the group read. “So, we come together. Always was, always will be Aboriginal land.” In addition to the performers – which include The Terrys, Miss Kaninna and Becca Hatch – the day will also include the dance troupes Brothers In Arms and Kapa Haka Group, as well as Indigenous activist Robbie Thorpe and Kaiarahi Cultural Collective founder Jeremy Nikora. Workshops, stalls and food trucks will also be present.

On Tuesday, September 2nd, the Neo-Nazi group the National Socialist Network invaded Camp Sovereignty, which is a longstanding Indigenous community space and a sacred burial site. They attacked the site with weapons, targeting women and hospitalising two people during their ten-minute assault. No arrests were made, as Victoria Police arrived after the Neo-Nazis had fled the scene.
“This attack shows what Australia has always been – a fascist, white supremacist colony built on genocide,” said Camp Sovereignty co-founder Keiran Stewart-Assheton in a statement shared via the Black Peoples Union. “They came armed with poles to attack a group of predominantly women at a peace camp. Our sovereignty cannot be broken. We remain armed with truth, culture and community, and that is far stronger than their hate.”
Sovereign Day Out will commence from midday, and will run through to 10:30pm. No alcohol or drugs will be at the event, and although it is free for all to attend, donations to Camp Sovereignty are strongly encouraged.
