Umphrey’s McGee continued its ongoing tour cycle this past weekend by remaining in the Sunshine State following their gig on Thursday, May 29, which functioned as their initial concert with drummer Duane Trucks after longtime backbeat Kris Myers stepped away from his post on May 13, during their ensuing performances on Saturday, May 31 at the Miami Bandshell and Sunday, June 1’s Jannus Live concert in St. Petersburg, Fla., the group continued their trend of dusting off material, reviving two tracks during each performance.

Following Thursday’s performance in Pensacola, Fla., the band moved on to their Friday night appearance at The Beacham in Orlando, which featured a first set “1,000 Places to See Before You Die,” for the first time since August 20, 2023, ending a 150 show gap in plays, and bridging a motif that extended into Saturday and Sunday’s sets. Continuing their current trend, UM positioned bust-outs into their set on May 31, including the first cover of Frank Zappa’s “Dirty Love” since Feb. 3, 2023, effectively closing a 199-show gap, and during the concert’s encore, J.J. Cale’s “Cocaine,” for the first time since March 5, 2020, this time, concluding a 351-concert lapse.

The band’s June 1 arrival on the St. Petersburg, Fla., stage yielded the same trends, two more bust-outs, and a little extra. During their performance on the Jannus Live stage, the band applied lyrics to the typically instrumental “Yoga Pants.” Not only were the lyrics a new twist, but the song’s arrival ended a 380-show gap, having last appeared on the group’s setlist on Nov. 2, 2019. Remaining true to their trend, they positioned one final bust out, a cover of the Marshall Tucker Band classic, “Can’t You See” in the night’s lone encore position. Its arrival ended a break in play that extended back to July 23, 2022.

Next on their live schedule, UM will perform at Sharkey’s Event Center in Liverpool, N.Y., for a co-headline bill with moe., on June 13. For More details and to purchase tickets, visit www.umphreys.com/tour/tickets/.
