Watch: Amanda Shires Unveils Powerful New Single “Piece of Mind” and Official Music Video

Grammy award-winning singer/songwriter, Amanda Shires, has shared the latest single and official music video for “Piece of Mind,” a powerful new preview of her forthcoming album, Nobody’s Girl, due on September 26, 2025, via ATO Records. The track and adjoining music video bolster Shires’ current independent outlook, one tied to personal liberation after feeling dismissed for an extended period of time. “Piece of Mind” underscores her will and earned attitude, which persists as a musical reminder that she needs no man. 

Shires wrote the new track with production assistance from Lawrence Rothman. Clocking in at under four minutes, it electrifies an emotionally charged atmosphere tied to the artist’s own experiences of emotional turmoil that fed her feelings of dismissal and inspired the rock-heavy anthem. An energetic force, the song and artist channel ignored feelings into a powerful pulse of independent vigor. 

Shires says, “This one came when I was finally done being polite about pain. I wrote this song because I never got closure. ‘Piece of Mind’ became the place I said everything I didn’t get to say. Writing it gave me an ending. Not tidy. Not bitter. Just mine.”

“Piece of Mind” is the latest preview from Shires’ aptly personal collection, which touches on rock, roots, folk, and country influences, while dealing with themes like heartbreak, loss, self-discovery, and durability. Nobody’s Girl was recorded at Sound Emporium Studios in Nashville, with Fred Eltringham, Julian Dorio (drums), Dominic Davis (bass), Peter Levin (keys), Zach Setchfield, and Rothman (guitar). 

In addition to Music City, she also worked on the set at Rothman Recorders in Los Angeles, with Jay Bellerose (drums), Pino Palladino (bass), Jimbo Hart (bass), Joe Kennedy (piano, guitar), and Rothman (guitar). In addition to added instrumental accompaniment, Shires unleashes her signature fiddle and the use of tenor guitar and ukulele across the collection.
