Watch Amyl & The Sniffers Rock ‘Tiny Bikini’ On ‘The Tonight Show’

Amyl & The Sniffers have taken to the iconic Studio 6B stage at 30 Rock for their debut performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Their performance of the Cartoon Darkness track ‘Tiny Bikini’ aired on Wednesday (May 14th) in the US, where the band were the musical guests on an episode that also featured actress Salma Hayek and former Spice Girl Mel B. The Melbourne band were joined by a trio of drag queens from the Haus Of Aja collective as part of the performance: Aja The Kween, Kandy Muse and Dahlia Sin. “Sometimes in life, we have pinch-me moments,” wrote Muse in an Instagram post after the performance. “This moment is one of them, because why is this little hood boy from the Bronx performing background [vocals] for Amyl & The Sniffers on The Tonight Show? What a dream!” Sin, for her part, wrote: “Words cannot describe the amount of joy I was filled with, spending my birthday on stage with my girls and Amy [Taylor, lead vocalist]. Never forgetting this!”

‘Tiny Bikini’ was released in October 2024 as part of the band’s third album, Cartoon Darkness. Although it was not one of the four singles the band released in support of the album – ‘U Should Not Be Doing That’, ‘Chewing Gum’, ‘Big Dreams’ and ‘Jerkin’ – the track has proven to be one of the most popular cuts from the album. It has become part of the band’s regular live repertoire – including on their Australian tour in January, which saw tour opener Miss Kaninna join the band on-stage to perform it with frontwoman Amy Taylor at their Brisbane show at the Fortitude Music Hall.

Amyl’s appearance on The Tonight Show marks the first time an Australian artist has appeared on the program in nearly a year, with the last one being Keith Urban last September. The band are currently in the US on a national tour with support from Sheer Mag, fresh from performing at Coachella last month. They will play in Philadelphia tonight (May 16th) before continuing onto Boston, Silver Spring, Raleigh, Atlanta and Nashville for the remainder of the month. They will then hit the European festival circuit across June and July, as well as a sold-out London show in Finsbury Park alongside Kneecap supporting Fontaines D.C.
