Watch Dua Lipa Duet with Special Guest Lionel Richie
Dua Lipa delivered a memorable moment during her Los Angeles concert on the ‘Radical Optimism’ tour, welcoming legendary musician Lionel Richie to the stage for a rendition of “All Night Long (All Night)”.
The collaboration marked another highlight in the pop star’s ongoing series of surprise guest appearances that have become a signature element of her current tour.
Lipa introduced Richie with enthusiasm, telling the Los Angeles crowd: “I thought tonight, for you wonderful people, we’d do something really iconic, something really amazing, something really special. A song by an artist who has completely defined so many generations in music. Someone who has brought so much love and joy and celebration to the whole world.”
Richie’s entrance brought infectious energy to the venue as he danced onto the stage, spending five minutes performing alongside Lipa and her band. The veteran artist took on his iconic line, “Come on and sing my song,” while encouraging the crowd throughout the performance. Lipa handled the majority of the vocals, including the verses about people dancing in the street and life being “good, wild and sweet.”
This Los Angeles appearance represents the latest addition to an impressive roster of special guests who have joined Lipa during the surprise song portion of her sets. The concept involves performing tracks from artists native to each tour city, with select nights featuring the actual musicians themselves. Previous collaborations have included Lenny Kravitz in New York for “It Ain’t Over ‘Til It’s Over” and Leon Bridges in Dallas performing “Beyond”.
Crowds at the Australia and New Zealand legs of Lipa’s mammoth world tour didn’t miss out on the surprise guests.
She brought out Crowded House frontman Neil Finn at her final Aotearoa show in April, with the pair performing Crowded House’s classic song “Don’t Dream It’s Over”.
At the first Auckland performance, Lipa covered Lorde‘s luxury fantasy hit “Royals”, after welcoming Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker to the stage in Sydney to perform Tame Impala’s “The Less I Know the Better”. Lipa previously performed “Rush” with Sivan and “Riptide” with Vance Joy.
