Watch: The Disco Biscuits Welcome an Electric New Year in Philadelphia

The Disco Biscuits have released a pro-shot video of their entire New Year’s Eve show at the Franklin Music Hall in Philadelphia. The run marked their first New Year’s in their hometown of Philadelphia since 2021 and their return to the former Electric Factory venue for the first time since 2015.
The performance on Dec. 31 followed two dance parties from The Disco Biscuits – one in New York on Dec. 29 and another also at Franklin Music Hall on Dec. 30. The New Year’s Eve show featured three sets for the Biscuits family and an array of surprises from the band.
The evening began with the fan-favorite “Nughuffer,” accompanied by a humorous interlude from Marc Brownstein about change and Aron Magner’s stoner title in 2023. The set continued with a patient “Voices Insane,” an inverted “Crickets,” and the 2023-debuted “Photograph.”
For the second set, the band emerged in new black jumpsuits, surrounded by low-hanging fog. The electricity-themed set included the rocking original “Reactor” with Macarena samples, a rare performance of Eddy Grant’s “Electric Avenue” after a 371-show gap, and a deep exploration of “Shocked!” with multiple type-II jams. As midnight approached, “The Deal” took over, and the band counted down to the new year amid confetti and pyrotechnics. The traditional New Year’s “Helicopters” closed the set with modified lyrics shouting, “Happy New Year, look out below!”
The final set commenced with “Basis for a Day,” leading into the debut of the original “Fire Will Exchange.” “We Like to Party” included a Tractorbeam-style jam before returning to “Basis.” The encore segment, a tight “The Wormhole” > “Reactor,” featured a “Buy The Time” jam, leaving fans reflecting on the band’s significant 2023 evolution and eagerly anticipating what 2024 has in store.
This concluding run followed the band’s surprise Christmas gift to fans, the live album Live From Austin, TX, recorded on Sept. 16, 2023, at Empire Garage and mixed and mastered by sound engineer Rich Steele. With a new album in the works and over 35 shows already announced for 2024, the Biscuits are geared up, fully charged, and prepared to tackle the new year. Tickets for all announced shows are available here.
