Waymo riders in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Phoenix can now link their YouTube Music accounts to personalize their experience in a new way.

Self-driving robotaxi company Waymo has added yet another audio streaming platform to its list of partnerships and integrations. Beginning today, Waymo riders in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Phoenix can now seamlessly link their YouTube Music and Waymo accounts, letting customers personalize their ride experience in a new way.

To celebrate the launch, Waymo teamed up with singer-songwriter Julia Michaels, whose video for her latest single, “No Heartbreak’s Killed Me Yet,” was shot from the backseat of a Waymo.

The partnership is part of Waymo’s broader strategy to collaborate at “key culture moments to make self-driving cars feel not just futuristic, but aspirational, relatable, and mainstream.”

Music videos have long served as a showcase for aspirational vehicles, from Lamborghinis to lowriders to custom SUVs. Now, Waymo’s autonomous vehicles step into that spotlight, having been featured in Kesha’s “JOYRIDE,” Katseye’s “Gabriella,” and Saweetie’s “boffum.”

Collaborations like these highlight how Waymo is striving to redefine its role in pop culture, blending transportation innovation with cultural storytelling to resonate with a worldwide audience. Such an approach aims to normalize the concept of a self-driving taxi, rather than making the experience seem detached and de-personalized for the average rider.

It’s notable that this collaboration took so long to take shape, given that Google-parent Alphabet is the common parent company of both Waymo and YouTube Music. The YouTube Music integration also comes on the heels of Waymo’s collaboration with Saweetie to celebrate the launch of Spotify x Waymo integration.

Waymo’s newest cities in 2025 include Atlanta, Miami, Dallas, Nashville, Denver, Seattle, New York City, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., and others as the self-driven taxi company seeks to expand across the United States.
