R.E.M., Steely Dan and Others Inducted into 2024 Songwriters Hall of Fame
The Songwriters Hall of Fame has unveiled the new list of inductees into its 2024 class. The latest group of celebrated music industry talent was announced today by news anchor Anthony Mason on CBS Mornings. Leading the pack is R.E.M., known for their beloved archive of work from “Losing My Religion” to “Everybody Hurts” and “It’s The End of the World As We Know It.”
Following the Athens, Ga. favorites is songwriter Hillary Lindsey, who has written 27 No. 1 country hits for the likes of Carrie Underwood (“Jesus Take the Wheel”), Little Big Town (“Girl Crush”), Lady Gaga (“Million Reasons”) and more. Also included is Timothy Mosley, more commonly known as Timberland.
Dean Pitchford, who is associated with writing movie themes for Fame, Footloose, and The Lizzie McGuire Movie, also made the list. Steely Dan’s Walter Becker and Donald Fagen round out this year’s list of honorees, earning their Songwriters Hall of Fame status for fusing genres propelled by enigmatic lyrics.
